.JPG) This lovely stretch of sand is probably the most popular of Tel Aviv's beaches. It offers the choice between lounging chairs and sunshades or sand only, so each bather can take his or her pick, and features a rather good beachside restaurant
The Gordon and Frishman beaches are very near some of the main hotels, which make them very convenient for tourists. In the summer there are sometimes parties and events on the beach itself or nearby and in the winter people can enjoy a walk down the beach and watch the waves crushing over the wave breakers.
The beach is clean and pleasant and not overcrowded on weekdays, but on weekends it's quite a different story. The beach is almost popping with tanned youngsters, roaming it on high heels or scorching themselves in the sun. You will find girls with minimal bikinis and cool shades and boys with tight swimming shorts, tanned skins and a golden chain or two for the final touch. These beach-roamers, who are often oversea visitors, are naturally mixed in with more normative beach dwellers who choose to wear swimsuits that actually fit them and have heard of something called "skin cancer". Nevertheless, these beaches are indeed very pleasant and once the Gordon Swimming pool reopens (try to find out at your hotel), they will become again the true hotspot of Tel Aviv's coast.
For a bit of sportive activity, try the volleyball court just off Gordon Beach, and for a touch of amusement for kids, try the beach playground off Frishman Beach. On Gordon beach you will also find Gordo restaurant, which offers classic seaside fare featuring fish and seafood alongside salads and Midle Eastern snacks. Check out the restaurant's site for more information: http://www.gordo.co.il/eng/indexEN.html
