Sunset in Tel Aviv
Yaniv Yur
Banana beach is named after it's cool café, which has small tables and chairs by which one can sit and enjoy a drink and the sea view.

The beach itself is rather nice and simple, attracting young families and gropus of friends on weekends, mostly people in their therties or fourties. It's less a beach for the young and restless, more for the experienced and relaxed.

People sit around reading books and playing the famous Matkot game (a beach-sport inbetween tennis an ping-pong). There is a nice atmosphere and it is a nice beach, but the size of the cafe intrudes a little upon the feeling of tranqulity on the beach.  Nevertheless, Banana beach is a very good option.

Films in the evening

In the evenings Banana Beach café shows films and sport shows on a big screen, free of charge. It's usually Hollywood's classics (from the 80's and onwards), such as "When Harry met Sally" or "Titanic". It is really nice to sit on the beach in the open air and watch Meg Ryan fake a female orgasm for the millionth time.  The food isn't bad at all and isn't overpriced as one might expect from a restaurant with this location.
