Givat Aliya Beach |
|
This most southern beach of Tel Aviv is blessed with a unique scenery and natural beauty.
Givat Aliya is Jaffa's beach - its setting is unique and remarkable, with stone arches and rocky waters, and a rather beautiful part of the promenade. Sadly, the water in this part of the coast is quite rough, with high waves, strong currents, rocks and seaweed, which make it less suitable for swimming. Nevertheless, it is a very different kind of beach which is worth a visit, maybe just for a walk and something to eat in the nearby Arab cuisine restaurantslocted on the port on in Ajami neighborhood, which offer a very fair and tasty menus.
Many plans have been made to change this part of Tel Aviv's coastline. Until 2006, the municipality is expecting to complete a program expanding the beach and putting up a park with bicycle lanes and playing areas for children. Interesting to see how long it will take to execute this plan...
Givat Aliya is a different kind of beach altogether, best for a change of atmosphere or for those who prefer a quiet scenery with the occasional families coming for a swim. Beautiful and different.
