The Religious Beach (Nordau) |
|
To respond to needs of the religious community, there is one beach in Tel Aviv that separates between men and women.
This beach is surrounded by a high wall separating it from its neighboring beaches Hilton and Sheraton.
This beach has separate days for men and women:
-
Women - Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday are the bathing days.
-
Men - Monday, Wednesday and Friday are the bathing days.
In the past it used to be open on Saturday for both sexes, but they have now restricted that. It is a little odd to see an empty beach surrounded by a wall, while every patch of sand has someone sitting on in the crowded Weekend.
The women's days usually attract many of Tel Aviv's non religious female community members, who want to sunbathe in the nude with out being harassed by the ill mannered Israeli men. It is a little bizarre but it doesn't seam to bother the other women too much.
Besides, this beach is nice and usually less crowded than the other beaches are. So if you prefer single sex bathing or are more restrained beach atmosphere, it is a very good option.
