Visit the house of Israel's most highly acclaimed poet, Haim Nachman Bialik.
Bialik is an extraordinary poet who has been officialy declared as Israel's National poet. In his writings, Bialik has managed to express the voice of the post-enlightenment generation on one hand, while articulting timeless sentiments of human existence on the other.
The house was built in 1927, and served as home to Haim Nachman Bialik and his wife Mania until Bilik's death. The architect of the house was influenced by Islamic architectural style, which is reflected in the impressive decorations dominating the house. The house contains books, letters and works given to Bialik by Israel's finest artists.
On the first floor you can find the lecture hall and dining room, in which Israel's most prestigious figures had gathered at the time. On the second floor is Bialik's study, some other rooms, and outside the garden. In 1937, three years after the death of Bialik, his wife donated the house to the municipality of Tel Aviv, and soon after it was opened to the public.
