Located just off Charles Clore Park near Alma beach, the Etzel Museum in Tel Aviv offers detailed information on one of the leading military organization in the history of Israel's struggle for independence. The Etzel (which in Hebrew stands for The National Military Organization) was one of the three main military groups who fought on behalf of Israel's Jewish inhabitants, before the formation of the state of Israel and the IDF (Israeli defense forces). The museum focuses on the move of the group from secretive activity to official status, as the members of the Etzel joined the newly formed Israeli army after the UN's decision in 1947. In principal, the Etzel is considered the most extreme of the three groups who existed at this time in the history of Israel (The Hagana and The Lechi are the other two groups). The museum is well kept and offers a short but interesting tour in one of Tel Aviv's nicer areas. Admission: 5-10 NIS |
