I was very displeased by the Safari Park. While I was there, I saw numerous animals treading back and forth, doing the exact thing over and over. This was a clear sign to me that the animals are bored and aren't being cared for as often as they should have been. In addition, the animals were confined, but not in the way you would expect. There are numerous electric wires surrounding the animals and you can constantly hear the crackling of the electricity zapping one of the animals. As I was walking around the zoo, I noticed a group of four guys. Since no zoo attendant was around they got away with everything. They decided to bang on enclosures and torture the animals. At one point, they were sticking their arms into a tiger enclosure and they were pinching and poking the tiger, trying to make it growl so they could take a picture. The Safari Park offers you the ultimate zoo experience with reduced sense of guilt. A fun day with children in the area of Tel Aviv. The Safari ParkOpened in 1981 and offering 250 acres of animal life, one of the best pastimes for children and adults in the area of Tel Aviv is the Safari in Ramat-Gan. The uniqueness of the Safari is that many of the animals roam around freely, with no cages to confine them. It's not exactly like the wilderness in Africa, but it certainly is a refreshing experience to see animals without any metal bars blocking the view. On the moral side, it seems fairer to keep animals under such living conditions when they are used for the purpose of entertainment. The Safari also keeps a hospital for injured wild animals, which is another plus for the moral point of view. The lion area is the peek, for the end of the day in the Safari. But don't expect too much activity, the lions are rather lazy. It's a nice whole day activity for children, but you should know that the prices in the Safari's Cafeteria are outrageous and for no good reason, so consider bringing sandwiches along. Touring is only in closed vehicles. "The Safari" E-mail: http://www.safari.co.il Address: P.O.Box 984 Ramat-Gan 52109 ISRAEL Tel: (03) 631-3531 Did you know? The Safari Park is one of the most popular places for children and Gurus alike. In 2004 a group of people were caught roaming around the Safari at 3 o'clock in the morning, under the guidance of a man who explained that this was a sort of therapy he offered to people, a way to connect to nature. Apparently they used to smoke illegal substances and chill amongst the giraffes and tortoises. The world is full of surprises!
