Located on the east side of Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv, the Zafari is a colorful, friendly zoo dedicated to birds only (Zipor meaning "bird" in Hebrew) The Zafari, the biggest bird park in the Middle East, is a charming place to spend a morning or afternoon with the family while visiting in Israel. Boasting a variety of attractions including a lake with swans and ducks, a petting area, a bird forest and a couple of well-equipped play areas on top of that, you can easily spend 3-4 hours there without over-exerting yourself or risking that the kids might start getting bored. In the bird forest you will come across flamingos, peacocks and parrots, and will also be able to pop into the “baby bird” area to see the young hatchlings. Remaining within the cold blooded category, the park also has a little reptile area where kids can come in close contact with snakes (!). Finally, the play areas offer fun pastimes suited to different ages: a colorful ball pool, creative art corners, a baking corner, a ladder and ropes maze and more.
The Zafari isn’t exactly a huge place, but there are many options in it and the atmosphere is really pleasant if the place isn’t too full. Open Saturday 10:00-17:00 (make sure to call and ask for the updated opening hours as they change); entrance fee NIS 50 (except for babies up to the age of two) |
