Since its opening in 1985, the Chelouche Gallery for Contemporary Art has been one of Israel's leading galleries.

Chelouche Gallery displays works in various fields of art, such as new media, video art, sculpture, painting, installation and photography.  The gallery emphasizes the importance of intertwining the local and international art, creating discourse between the Israeli artists and the international art scene.  Aparently, Chelouche gallery was the first to invite international, artists to Israel and the first to participate in some important international art fairs, such as Art Basel, Art Forum Berlin, Miami, Arco Madrid, New York and more. {mosimage}

As early as 1989, the gallery started to bring to Israel some of the world's top artists. Artists such as Orlan, Kempinger, Txomin Badiola and William Kentridge have held solo exhibitions at the gallery. While others, such as Micelangelo Pistoletto, Jaume Plensa, and David Mach, created special projects for the gallery as part of Passage, an international program in which artists are invited to engage in a dialogue, share ideas and hold joint exhibitions at the gallery.
