The month of July brings the real summer to Tel Aviv (including heat and humidity) and boasts many outdoor events and festivals. The wet, sweaty ambience might not be to eveyone's taste, but those who dare will be rewarded with upbeat happenings and plenty of fun.
A White Night
3-5 July 2008
This is the fourth year that the Municipality of Tel Aviv is arranging a "white night" throughout the city. Restaurants will be open all night offering special deals, there will be late night theatre shows, music, art, special night time tours of the city and much more.
Film lovers can enjoy late night shows at The Cinematheque and Hod Cinema. On Rothschild Boulevard you can experience the artistic side with special artistic spaces. The main event though, is the International Marathon for Jazz and Avant-garde Music in the Einav Center (above Rabin Square). You could view the full musical program on: www.tlart.net, but – it's in Hebrew…
Luckily enough, to enjoy music, films, food and art no spoken language is really necessary.

The Humus Festival
Each year, one of Israel's leading humus manufacturers arranges this grand event which celebrates Israel's national dish – humus. Taking place in Hayarkon Park, the best places for humus in Tel Aviv participate in this event offering their cuisine to the festival's hungry guests. There are other attractions besides the food, according with the oriental atmosphere accompanying humus, which originates in Arab countries. There are performances by well-known musicians, mostly from the Mizrahi genre (Arabic musical influences), and some belly-dancing too. The creators of the festival surprise its comers with new additions each year, we'll just have to wait and see what's on this year.
