Mugraby hostel is another favorite, getting good reviews for character and friendliness.

Located on the busy Allenby Street, Mugraby Hostel is in the center of Tel Aviv's tourist nightlife zone.  The area is a little sleazy but not in an intimidating way.  There is an endless selection of budget food on the street, as well as a couple of bars which are the a favorite with tourists, such as Joey's Bar.  There are also sex shops, home appliances shops, restaurants and more, on this eclectic street.

The facilities are basic and satisfactory, with quite clean rooms and a friendly atmosphere.  The Mugraby's social room is nice and lively, serving as a convenient meeting place for everyone. Some rooms have A/C and a balcony.

    • Nancy B.  - good place in telaviv

mugraby is a nice place to stay in, met new friends at the dorm room, the roof is amazing though.

    • Nancy  - Homeless in Tel Aviv

They took our deposit and gave away our rooms.

    • Nancy  - Gave away my room.

We gave a deposit well in advance and they gave away our rooms and refused to refund the deposit. What a scam!

    • Nancy Dunlap  - Mugraby Mistake

I came from a 12 hour flight, confirmation in hand, to be turned away. They gave away my rooms and said the credit card was turned down. The deposit was given with the same credit card which was an active good card. They took our deposit, gave away our room, and refused to return the deposit.
We ended up having to blow our budget on accomodations. Then my mother called there and they claimed we had never arrived. Scared the poor old lady.

    • Moishe  - Not great....

I stayed there for 3 nights. On the plus side the staff were indeed very friendly and helpful, the location was very close to the beach and the showers were clean and hygienic.

On the down side though the building is an absolute dump. The digital image on the website should have been a giveaway as to what an eyesore the place is. The rooms were not particularly pleasant. Lockers in the room were avilable but no locks even though it said they r provided on the website. Admittedly i should have considered getting a room with ac but without sleeping was imossible especially with the traffic noise going past the window. The location is close to the beach but it also appears to the seediest part of the city full of strip bars and sex shops.

My advice, for an extra couple of dollars go to another hostel. I did the second time!

    • Anna E.  - I'd definitely stay in mugraby hostel again and a

Definitely mugraby hostel one of the best hostels in tel-aviv. This is a really good hostel with friendly people and staff. The atmosphere is relaxed, but not dumpy. Its a great place for a tel-aviv visit, and the staff was exceedingly friendly.

Mugraby Hostel is situated in a nice and convenience location. It is close to everything in telaviv, the place is very clean, rooms, toilets, showers, we stayed in the 4 beds dorm room for 10 euros per night, This hostel has good comfortable beds to sleep in, However free WIFI was quite handy if you had your notebook with you.

I've stayed in many hostels, everything seemed to be fairly clean, the breakfast is very simple but decent (cheese, toast, coffe, tea), and the staff were always pleasant and very helpfull.

The bin in room was emptied everyday. Some of the rooms have showers, otherwise there are showers in the hall toilets. The share shower rooms and toilets were clean plus full of hot water and toilet rolls. The only critic...

    • Kate  - DON'T STAY HERE! BED BUGS!!!

I have stayed in HUNDREDS of hostels all over the world, and this has to be the worst one. I really don't understand all the positive feedback! It's a dump. It's dirty. The bed had bed bugs and now I have bed bug bites all over my body. I am not joking. There was no hot water. I had to take cold showers. The room smelled and the sheets were filthy. Don't be fooled by the positive posts, they're probably written by the staff. Sure, maybe the staff is nice, and you might meet some cool people, but you can do that at ANY hostel. It might be by the beach, but there are like three other hostels in the same area, so why anyone would insist on staying at this dive is beyond me. I mean, if cleanliness is not your thing, then by all means, have at it.

    • Jessica  - Highly recommended! good place to stay in Tel Aviv

We stayed here the beginning of July 2007 for five nights. The staff (Sam, Avraham, ...) were friendly and helpful and the hostel was reasonably clean.

The place has a great location if you plan on visit all attractions in telaviv, We stayed the first night in the dorm, the dorm room is clean and simple with bunk beds but no A/C, toilet and showers are shared outside, They had lockers located in the rooms that would fit your pack, everything was very clean.

Fortunately I had some great people in my dorm, and we just hung out in there most of the time. the day after we had our private room with A/C, Great air conditioning when telaviv get hot. which is lovley and cosy, they clean the rooms daily,

The common room was kinda small, Free wireless internet for hostel guests, and the Internet Cafe is not too pricey as well. Smoking and Alcohol in not allowed in the lobby or in the dorm rooms, but you have the roof (or your private room) and the stairs. and the pubs and clubs out...

    • PD  - Awful place

I really cannot believe how such an awful hostel managed to get all those high marks. I stayed there in 2004 and it was one of the most disgusting places i had ever set foot in. There is no common area just a small table in the tiny reception. Rooms are dirty and there are many lower class locals who stay in this hostel for long periods of time; there was even a homeless guy in my dorm! I will never stay at this place again

    • Lenka  - Simply GREAT

I use to live a couple of months at the Mugraby Hostel. It is just a wonderfull place, I enjoyed it really much. Right in the centre of everything... Staff is just soo cute and friendly... Thank you Nimrod, Avi and of course SAMUSHKI! You made me a great few months of my life. Sam, love you always! L.

    • Cassie

I stayed at this place for five nights in April and must say that the place is great. Staff members are very friendly, The location is just fantastic. You can get wherever you want within minutes. There's no better option for this price. The staff is nice and helpful. It may get loud sometimes but not to much. I'm staying at this place when in tel-aviv.

I chose this hostel after reading so many good reviews. However, it is not as good as the description here. This small hostel is quite shabby. I cannot sleep well because of the noise from the street. Not all staff are friendly. Won't recommend it.

    • Mike  - we LOVE mugraby hostel

we stayed in mugraby hostel at Aug 2006, we had much fun, beach is 1 minute away, fresh towels all the time, toilets and showers are clean, sheets are clean, people are very friendly, the roof is fantastic, free wireless internet, very helpful staff (Sam + Nemroda + Avei), god bless them

    • Andy B.  - A + +

This hostel was very easy to find and the location was central. It enables easy access to the major monuments in the area as well as many pubs and clubs. The bathrooms were very clean and the rooms were good enough.

    • Tara J.  - nice place

nice place, prices are cheap, we stayed there in august 2005, the hostel is clean and nice, people are very friendly, staff very helpful, location is great, i do recommend about mugraby hostel for everybody.

    • George  - Pleasure :-)

What a pleasure it was to stay at the Mugraby Hostel. The staff members are all excellent, friendly, generous persons. On top of all these wonderful qualities they are also so helpful and thoughtful.
