Givat Aliya Beach |
|
This is Tel Aviv's most southern beach with unique scenery and natural beauty.
This is Jaffa's beach. Its setting is unique and remarkable, with stone arches, rocky waters and a rather beautiful promenade. Sadly, the water in this part of the coast is quite rough, with high waves, strong currents, rocks and seaweed, which make it less suitable for swimming. Nevertheless, it is a very different kind of beach which is worth a visit, maybe just for a walk and something to eat in the nearby Arab cuisine restaurants which offer a very fair and tasty menu.
Many plans have been made to change this part of Tel Aviv's coast-line. Until 2006, the municipality is expecting to complete a program expanding the beach and putting up a park with bicycle lanes and playing areas for children. Interesting to see how long it will take to execute this plan...
Givat Aliya is a different kind of beach altogether, best for a change of atmosphere or for those who don't especially like to swim in the sea and prefer the quiet scenery with the occasional big families coming for a swim. Beautiful and different.
