Kikar Kdumim (Kdumim Square) |
|
|
The main attractions in the old city of Jaffa are situated around the area of Kikar Kdumim.
Kikar Kdumim used to be a red light district in the past days of Jaffa, but now it is a central spot for art, food and nightlife. Just nearby, on the Glass Alley, you can find a couple of good restaurants and trendy nightclubs.
On Kikar Kdumim there is a Visitors' Center. Here you could watch a short film about the history of Jaffa, or get some useful information to help you plan your individual touring of Jaffa (for example, a map would be a good idea...).
Just under the square there is a History of Jaffa Museum, you can stop there and take a look at the archeological and historical display.
On the right, before entering the square itself, you will find the Franciscan Saint Peter's Church. The interior is very beautiful though quite dark, but the exterior of the church is being consumed by the sea air and strong winds, hopefully there will be a way to restore the church when it is needed.
