Walking to the Old Port |
|
Jaffa offers you a whole new kind of experience with its intriguing mix of religions and styles, and charming combination of old and new.
The old city of Jaffa is a very touristy area, but it is charming nonetheless. Little allies, restaurants on the beach front, museums and places of historical interest. You can walk through these little allies, named after zodiac signs, and peep into the numerous galleries which exhibit the works of Israeli artists.
Work your way down to the port of Jaffa, the oldest still active port in the world. It's a beautiful little port. You can walk down the small pier, or buy some fresh fish from the fisherman selling the catch of the day.
There are also a couple of good restaurants which you can stop in for a bite to eat, follow your nose and look for the more lively places. The Grape Man, on 9 Mazal Shor Street, is quite well known, but all who go say that only the wine is worth the visit, while the food should be avoided.
