Jaffa offers many fun and interesting touring options for the traveling tourist, but even just walking down Jaffa's streets will provide you with a breathtaking experience
Old Jaffa, with the Old Port, the markets, restaurants and the unique atmosphere, is a real delight. Some claim that Jaffa could still do with some renovation, but its charm prevails. Enjoy the flea market, museums, galleries and beautiful old port in Jaffa.
Hummus "Al Haboker"
According to Arab tradition, humus should be eaten early in the morning, when it's fresh. To give your day an authentic start, pop into Abu-Hasan and dip into a plate of humus (after all, when in Rome…). But remember that humus isn't one of the lightest substances and might make you feel quite heavy afterwards. A day of walking, toruing and excursions might seem a little challenging in such cirsumstances. So, choose an alternative breakfast or consider a lazy day on the beach or in bed after eating your humus.
The Flea Market
The Flea Market is lovely at all hours of the day, but the late morning is a good time to go. Friday is the busiest day of the week, when the merchants take their stock out onto the streets for all to see. Weekdays are less crowded and hectic, but boast a charming, more laid-back ambience. While wandering around the market, you can stop for a coffee in Puah, or perhaps even breakfast if you don't feel quite ready for the authenticity of Humus Al Haboker.
Old Jaffa
Wander through the picturesque alleys of Old Jaffa and pop into a couple sightseeing attractions in the area, such as the Ilana Gur Museum or Jaffa's Visitor's Center. If you're in an artistic mood, walk through the numerous galleries situated on these lovely little alleys and take a look at some local and international art work. There are a number of good restaurants in the area , such as Noa or Abdu Hadayag (37 Yeffet St. (03) 518-2595), which is a little further down on Yeffet St.
Old port and Givat Aliya Beach
Work your way down to the Old Port, where you can walk around one of the most ancient, yet still active, ports in the world. Alternatively you could spend a couple of hours on the beautiful and untouched Givat Aliya Beach, and only then walk to the port and enjoy a light meal there at sunset (however, be warned, the restaurants in the port itself are not the best you can find, to say the least).
If you don't really feel like leaving Jaffa when the day has gone by, pop into Yoezer and try a glass of wine from the restaurant's carefully crafted wine menu.
