Sixt car rental, or its local version Shlomo-Sixt, is a highly respected car rental company in Israel and around the world.

With a fleet of over 35,000 cars (for many purposes besides renting), Shlomo Sixt is the biggest car rental and leasing company in Israel and one the oldest too. The company has many locations in Israel and in Tel Aviv it has two branches.

Sixt is considered a good and reliable option by its clientele. Shlomo-Sixt offers a good combination between an International company and a local concessionaire.

Sixt has a pick-up point at the Ben-Gurion Airport - for further information about airport pick-up click here.

    • MG  - Stay away from Shlomo Sixt

By far the worst rental car experience. Never again. Not with Shlomo!

    • beaujolais  - not a good experience

our car was dirty and old. the trunk was full of an awful liquid/old wine - we saw it too late. --
I was surprised, we never rented a car in such a bad condition.

    • Alex Baron  - Rip off / racket

I received a car in Israel that was filthy and had many scratches on it despite having only 600 km on the clock - the cars are not maintained ! They charged me USD 256 !!! (over and above the rental)to "fix" a paint scratch on the bumper.this was something that could be fixed with rubbing some solvent and touch up paint (I challenge the company to show the picture of the damage - I have a copy). Is this how they recover for poor sales ?

    • Mike  - Distortion at Shlomo Sixt

I picked up a car at the Ben Gurion Airport at 4 o'clock in the morning. The garage was still dark, so the initial visual check was impossible. When two weeks later returned the vehicle back to Shlomo Sixt, they pointed out the the small paint rub at the lower body, indicated "severe damage" in the final paperwork and charged me additional ...$577 for repair!!! I feel completely victimized by this distortion. Never again dealing with Shlomo Sixt.

you say good things about Sixt Rent a Car but two of the three comments made by renters are simply AWFUL. The good news: you provide no way to link to the company's Website. Thanks.

I hired a sixt car rental and paid in full at a Flight Centre in London. Upon arrival at Sixth Car Hire at 4:00 am in the morning, they wanted to charge me taxes as if I was an Israeli Citizen, and when I showed them my foreign passport, i.d. and drivers licence with return ticket they were not interested. I then commented to my wife that hiring a car in Israel was a mistake - the consultant assisting us was rude and aggressive, interfered in our private conversation and told us that we should have not come to Israel. They handed us a filthy dirty car and after we returned the vehicle wanted to charge a massive surcharge for filling up. We then drove 3km out of the airport to fill the tank. We returned the car with a full tank and no damages whatsoever, but 12 days later they deducted $87.00 for airport fees and Israeli sales tax. They are a disgusting and dispicable bunch - stay away!!! They ruin your Israeli holiday experience.

If you are comming to Tel-Aviv (Ben Gurion) Airport from abroad, I can only recommend to stay away from Sixt.

On my last rental at Sixt in Ben Gurion Airport in Dec.-Jan 2008/2009 I first waited over an hour for a car with a very tired 5 years old son. Car was dirty. My son and I then wasted another hour for returning the car. Finally when I returned to Denmark, I was surprised how Sixt charged USD 395 me despite a quote on USD 243 and still refusing to detail the difference.

It is by far the worst rental car experience to-date in Israel. Expect extra significant charges and tremendious waste of time at your next Sixt car rental at Ben Gurion Airport.

In future, I will stick to one of the other companies.

    • Jozsef Jakics  - Mr.

I hired a car on the internet (much cheaper, than at the company's site or at the rental desk). Quick pick up and drop off procedures at the Ben Gurion Airport. Beware! Ain't any gas station on the highway from Tel-Aviv to Airport! So you had to fill the tank before it, otherwise you have to pay a horrible amount of money at drop off.
