Ronen's Place |
|
|
Located on the lovely Basel Square, Ronen offers one of the best dishes of humus in the north of Tel Aviv.
Unlike the other humus places that offer rather solid and heavy portions (some would say that the heavy sensation after humus is an essential part of the experience…), Ronen serves a fresh, creamy yet light portion for 18-20 NIS, depending on the added extras (Fava beans, pine nuts or tahini).
The seating - just off the square in the open air - is unusually nice, especially in comparison to other humus joints. The service is friendly and efficient, and everything is very fresh (including toasty warm Pita bread).
In addition, the place serves two Yemenite specialties: Jahnoon and Malouach (16 NIS). Both are leafy pastries served with grated tomatoes and a hard boiled egg. These too are well-prepared. So if you've had enough humus – there is still hope.
