Mul Yam restaurant, PR
Chosen in 2003 by "Les Grand Tables du Monde" to be included in the list of the 140 best restaurants in the world, Mul-Yam (meaning "opposite the sea") is indeed a superb restaurant.

Mul Yam's food, wine, service and ambience are superb.  The restaurant specializes in fish and seafood and executes this specialty with the most extraordinary skill.  The tastes are original yet subtle; a combination which is always favored but especially becomes the delicate tastes of the sea's produce. This restaurant has been carrying the torch for Israeli cuisine for quite a while now, surviving through the financial difficulties Israel has faced in the last years.

The prices in the menu match the restaurant's reputation, so eating here is quite a splurge.  But Mul Yam also offers an exquisite business lunch for only NIS 150, to say it is worthwhile is an understatement. Another advantage of the lunch option (besides not going bankrupt) is  the daylight, which gives you an oppertunity to really enjoy the proximity of the sea.

The Grilled Langoustine and Lobster dishes are outstanding, but you can take almost anything on the menu and delight in the tastes. The desserts too are excellent.

I went to Moul Yam for my wedding anniversary last year but my wife and I couldnt stand the smoke and we ended up leaving before desert.

This restauraunt has very excellent food BUT for those interested in civic responsibility the place is a disgrace. It flagrantly ignores rules restricting smoking in restauraunts. If you want a smoke free meal, you get pushed out of the main dinig hall with the view and ambiance to a small side room with neither. I suggest that you hold off with your booking until they change their policies and come in line with the law.

Mol Yam is very expensive by even US standards and the food is good but not great. They had a nice soup with a bit of shrimp in it, a very nice scampi appetizer with black rice and too little shrimp. The lobster was tasty but small for nearly $50. Service was very good and the ambiance was so-so. Some tables are on top of each other and the original one we were seated at was very uncomfortable and awkwardly placed. You can get slightly less fancy seafood in greater amounts for much less money at Goo-Cha.

Rather pretentious and corporate

Went to Mul Yam last Wednesday during a two week trip to Israel.

Mul Yan occupies a hanger in the busy port area. First impressions were of a long, almost corridor-like, conservativeley decorated room, populated by well dressed polyglots who speak loudly in restaurants. My companion, a native Tel Avivian told me that there were a few 'local personalities' in the house.

The service was charming and knowledgeable. Starters of Ravioli made-of-Scallops, filled with Shrimp on Lobster velouté and Seared Scampi on Black "Forbidden Rice" were small in the extreme, yet well executed.

Started to become aware of the noise of crashing plates from the kitchen.

Main courses were good too, but a Truffle Risotto, one dimensional, reheated and cloying.

The desserts were excellent but again, tiny.

Would I return? No

The bill for two starters, two mains, a glass of wine, two deserts, two teas - NIS 932

I much preferred a meal we had a beginning of the trip at Herbert Samuel.

Ridiculously over priced.
I am certainly not mean when it comes to paying for food.
but 230 shekels (£40) for a main course in Israel is a joke.
We sat down ... and then got up, and walked out.
I dont like being taken for a fool.
