This fetching wine bar-restaurant, which is adjoined to the Carmel Marekt, serves a wide selection of low-priced, excellent wine and a small selection of tasty yet overprices food
Touching on the hustle bustle of the Carmel Market but keeping to its laidback atmosphere, the Basta is a tiny place that offers food and wine lovers all they could dream of, i.e. excellent food and plenty of wine. The place has already managed to gather a group of admirers, composed both of anonymous hedonists and of well-known wine and food lovers whose faces can easily be spotted at well-established food and alcohol hubs around town. With a menu that changes daily and includes a variety of portions and a wine list of about 250 different kinds of wine, most of which are available in glasses, everyone is very likely to find at least one thing they like on the menu. Though the prices of the wine are extraordinarily reasonable, you should keep in mind that the food, though very tasty, is quite pricey and the portions served not very big at all, to say the least.
