{mosimage}In 2003, Gilly's, a well known and respected restaurant in Jerusalem, deserted its Jerusalemite clientele (as did many other restaurants) and moved to Tel Aviv and its vibrant culinary scene.
Gilly Pepperman is known to be the first person to introduce the Jerusalemite crowd to high-quality well prepared meat, and this has been his image ever since. In the new location in Tel Aviv Port, Gilly's enjoys a most spectacular view, just off the beach. The service in the place is excellent and the food good, though some would say that the quality is nothing like it was in the cosy Jerusalem version. The lunch deal is very good but in the evening the prices are a little too high. One of the place's highlights is the excellent breakfast (54NIS) served everyday from 11:00-17:00 (which is very good for those who arrive for breakfast at around 14:00-15:00 and can't understand why most restaurants don't serve them at that time!), and include variations on eggs, bacon, seafood and even steak. All of the options are extremely tasty, especially the shrimp omelette and the crispy bacon, which accompanies many of the courses. The atmosphere is really lovely. During my first trip to Israel, I was in Tel Aviv and visited Gilly's in Tel Aviv Port. Its food and service are excellent, I can recommend this place for eating a delicious food and feeling well.
