After years of work, the historic Train Station complex, with its many chic shops, restaurants and events, is now open to Tel Avivians and tourists visiting Tel Aviv
The Station Complex, or as it is simply called in Hebrew “Hatachana” (meaning “the station”) is a vibrant new shopping, dining and events center in Tel Aviv, which is located just outside the picturesque neighborhood of Neve Tzedek. The complex includes a selection of old buildings from the years this area served as the train station connecting Jaffa to Jerusalem all of which have been carefully reconstructed to maintain their original styles. In the station you will find a selection of shops by top designers and some fine restaurants. Not all the spaces have been filled yet, so there will be more to come (one option being a food center including a fish shop, butcher shop and fromagerie). Among the shops in the complex you will find the international American Vintage, but most of the shops are actually belong to established Israeli designers such as: Na’ama Bezalel, Elise, Yosef, Ido Recannati and Butterfly in the clothing department, and Michal Negrin, Efrat Kasuto and Hagar Satat in the Jewelry department. Additionally you’ll find Razili, which holds a collection of designs by various Israeli designers and Shufra, which does the same in the footwear department. In the culinary section, the Station Complex offers a number of places (and there are more to come): Shushka Shvili, a Mediterranean tapas and beer bar that offers a selection of delicacies, such as herrings, cold meat platters and salads; the Italian Station (Italkia Batachhana), which offers a selection of light dishes from the Italian kitchen, such as melon with prosciutto, Palermo octopus, Sicilian artichoke and other Italian specialties, all reasonably priced. Finally, for dessert, you can try the excellent home-made ice cream served at Vaniglia. As mentioned, more is on the way. On Fridays, you will be able to buy fresh organic fruit and vegetable at the Urban-Organic Market and more markets and events are expected. The Station Complex is located opposite the Tel Aviv Promenade, just before entering Jaffa (Just off Hamered St). There is an adjoined parking lot. It was very nice at the beginning, but our last visit was really bad experience. We came there 20 minutes before 1
0 PM to get our late Saturday breakfast. The host said no breakfast anymore (even it's until 1
0 PM officiously). Then we have waited for waiter about 20 minutes, no body come to ask us even about some drinks. We've got some bread&spread which was, let's say, not really tasty and then another 15 minutes we've waited to make an order. After 40 minutes seating and looking to the wonderful Old Jaffa view we've decided to leave this place. Don't go there. They are really have no idea about what service is.
