Walking down Rothschild Boulevard on Saturday noon I took a look at the famous bull parade.
Truthfully, I'm finding these city sculptures a bit much. It was nice when Tel Aviv Municipality started off this trend a few years ago with the Penguin sculptures and I think Jerusalem followed up quite well when they did their own Lion show. But then we had the Dolphins, the Benches and now these Bulls crowding Rothschild Blvd. So I must say I think this trend has exhausted itself and enough is enough.
But the worst thing about this specific exhibition is that it is in many ways simply an exhibition of wealth and power. The initial idea regarding this city sculptures was to help artists while promoting symbols of the city and giving people a good time, adding a bit of colour to the gray landscape. But this bull parade was organized by the wealthiest companies in Israel, the bulls were chosen as some sort of symbol of strength and progress.
To say the least a find it distasteful, had these companies really wanted to do something for Israel and its citizens, I could think of much better ways in which they could do so. I think people would appreciate it much more if there was a fair distribution of wealth and food on everyone's table.
Some people may enjoy this bull parade while others dislike it, but the fact remains that we need much more then this gesture to change things around in Israel and make it a country which is kind towards its citizens, and sadly much of the power to do this lies in the hands of the people who financed this bull parade.

there is no way to avoid these bulls, it is a demonstration of these corporate powers. There are too many and they can not be avoided - when are they going to remove them ?
