Many European Airlines offer flights from North America, but all with a layover in Europe.
One stop on the way, from North America all the way to Israel, might not seem like such a bad idea for some. You get to move around a bit and get a nice cup of coffee, a break from the cramped plane. But some might disagree. In any case, make sure that there is only one stop on the way, more than one can turn the journey into a nightmare.
Swiss International Airlines
Offer very comfortable business class compartments, even with very pleasant even charming décor. The Airline offers flights from NY to Tel-Aviv with a stopover in Zurich. One of the advantages of Swiss International Airlines is that they allow a non-full business class ticket, you could travel business and tourist combined to make the trip more economical.
Alitalia
One of the busiest Airlines, which take the largest number of passengers between U.S and Tel Aviv, is Alitalia. They also have very good packaged trips for a few days layover in Rome, so you can enjoy some Roman art and a plate of Pasta before continuing on to Israel. This option can be especially interesting for pilgrim tours to Israel, which will allow a visit in the Vatican on the way to Israel's holy sites.
British Airways
British Airways have a good Frequent Flyer miles program, and run very frequent flights to Israel. There have been complaints in the past about the service given by this company to Israel, but it has apparently improved since.
Choose the Airline you take according to the European city you want to visit. This way you can add a destination to your trip at a minimal extra cost.
