Taxis in Tel Aviv provide good and efficient service. Sometimes the drivers might try to get an extra buck out of you (no one said it's easy being a tourist), but mostly you can enjoy an easy ride and responsible driving.
A private taxi is obviously the most convenient option for getting around, but also the most expensive. There are hundreds of private taxis zooming by on most of Tel Aviv's streets. The taxis operate 24 hours 7 days a week.
An average taxi ride in the city of Tel Aviv is around NIS 20-30 (about $4-5). It is recommended that you ask the driver to turn on the meter. The driver will probably quote you a price, but 90% of the times it will be higher than using the meter.
Usually it's quite easy to catch a taxi off the street and there are taxi stations in the main areas which are even more convenient. If you would like to order a taxi you will be charged an extra sum of about NIS 4 ($1). Try these taxi companies:
