People in Tel Aviv usually walk from one place to another. The city is quite small and almost completely flat and the weather is usually perfect for walking, except, of course, on the rainy days between December and March, or on the hot summer days between July and September. It is a little difficult to keep your spirits high while walking in 80% humidity in the summer, or in buckets of rain in the winter. Walking doesn't go so well with
"being drenched" or
"in a pool of sweat". Nevertheless, mostly the weather is good and even in the months mentioned there are perfect days for walking.
For specific walking routes you can check out the
tours we introduce on site, or either enjoy the more specified information (and in some cases free guidance) given by the Municipality of Tel Aviv.
Finding your way around is easy as can be. The streets are rather easy to find, and the
locals are friendly and speak good English, so you shouldn't have any problem to find someone who can help you out if you're lost.
Walking is the best way to really get to know a city, it can give you a true sense of the city, a feel of its real character, beyond the attractions and restaurants. But to save up on your energy, only walk around areas you find charming or interesting, and use
taxis,
buses or
Sheruts to get to less central areas.
