Can a city have an aura that makes it more unique than other cities in the world? This may be a difficult question to answer since many cities in the world have something special to offer. However, it is also safe to say the uniqueness of the city of Tel Aviv takes on a dimension not seen elsewhere in the world.

In the 1960’s, there was a brilliant motion picture titled EXODUS and it chronicled the establishment of Israel. This film moved many people who may have been otherwise unfamiliar with the narrative. Yes, the birth, growth, and establishment of the country of Israel combine to make an interesting tale. Of course, the thousands of years of history that predated the birth of Israel also provide a compelling narrative since it is amazing from many historical, religious, and cultural perspectives. Israel is an amazing destination and while the country as a whole is a sight to see it is the city of Tel Aviv that truly captures the heart of the nation’s history.

Actually, the birth of the city of Tel Aviv predates the birth of Israel by 31 years. (Tel Aviv was founded in 1909) Tel Aviv came into the existence through the gradual morphing of two cities. This unique aspect of the birth of Tel Aviv adds a unique and complex dimension to its rich history.

If there was an aspect to Tel Aviv it would be the fact that the classic architecture of antiquity is intermixed with the amazing modern architecture. The modern business district captures a cosmopolitan feel that is practically unmatched in the world. When you interweave this modern look with the classic look of the ancient Middle East that rests beyond Tel Aviv’s city limits is a breathtaking visual entity.

While we sometimes become enthralled with the activities we take part in on vacation, sometimes it is the environment and ambiance that can be the most striking aspect. Tel Aviv has the right mix of a unique history, environment, and ambiance. That is why it is such an incredible destination and why so many people flock to it year after year.
