Another one of the bars on the famous (or notorious) Lilenblum Street is the Shesek. Always a nice option for a drink even though the vibe can tend to be a little bizarre... The Shesek (Hebrew for loquat) is an excellent little lounge-bar with a cool ambience and pretty crowd. Its design is somewhere between alienating and warm, as today's designs tend to be - lots of metal and straight lines alongside cute little couches and tables. The place usually has very good DJs, playing everything from light-techno or punk to break-beat or dub and the emphasis is on variety and quality rather than on a certain style. It's an excellent place that's open very late into the night. The service is very professional; you can ask the bartender for almost any drink and get exactly what you intended (a rare characteristic in Israeli bars). The prices are a little high in comparison to other places on the street, but the difference isn't a major one. For a more serious drinking session try the Shesek's "big brother", The Mishmish (Hebrew for apricot), which is located just above the Shesek. This bar is styled with the 50's in mind; it offers expensive drinks in a very mellow atmosphere with leather couches and chandeliers galore!
