Metropolitan Hotel -- decent hotel, great service, great location

I stayed at the Metropolitan Hotel for the first time in October 2007 because my favorite hotel, the Melody Hotel, was closed for a long period of renovations. It is a large hotel on Trumpeldor, about 2 blocks from the beach, and is a good, mid-range choice. It\'s a large hotel, and the rooms, while comfortable, are nothing fancy and somewhat worn. But they were clean and functional, and I was perfectly fine with them. The food was good at breakfast. What makes the hotel stand out, though, is the quality of the service. The staff is extremely helpful, and will go to great lengths to resolve issues.

This hotel also offers remarkably reasonable rates in what is otherwise a very expensive city. I\'d suggest you book through Orit at Regent Tours, a Tel Aviv-based hotel wholesaler. She consistently gets me far better rates than the \"rack rate,\" and is very easy to use. You can e-mail her at regent@actcom.co.il or call her toll-free from the US at (866) 383-6130, or from elsewhere at 972-3-694-7778. - Douglas E. Duckett
